Accelerated UV weathering of CAT 5 & VTR4 Cables
We are pleased to be helping Raytec LED Lighting to establish the relative UV durability of various CAT 5 cable outside insulation materials for old and new product. Cat5 (Category 5) cables are commonly used to connect computers, routers, and other LAN devices in both indoor and outside environments. Any deterioration of the outer sheath insulation may affect signal quality and data transfer speeds particularly with long outside runs that can be up to 100 meters.
A VTR46 cable is a high-quality, multi-conductor cable suitable for AV integration or powering VTR equipment in automotive and light industrial environments. The outer sheath materials are usually made from various grades of PVC and LSZH polymerics, hence concern regarding resistance to UV damage such as colour shift and cracking.
